water colour animation in [Waneewa Junah]
It is an animation from a film. I like the style very much because it looks like water colour pictures.Everything looks real but hand drawing. From an interview i know how the animation was made: first, record the video. then use filters to make it water colour style. Most of the scenes are really made by hands, the animator draw the outline of the character everyframe and then put them together. In some scenes, the camera moves with the character, so the scenes also change in different angle. In order to make the scene move in different angle, the animator build some simple scenes in 3D software and use texture to give the water colour feelings. The final result is successful.

[2D animation] The Lighthouse
simple but good story.
I notice that a great animantion is not only good look, but also a good content and plot development.

Research on some early works of Chinese style animation
For my major project, I want to bring something from Chinese style animation. There are several early works of Chinese animation.
There are mainly 2 kinds of animation in early time. One is Chinese ink painting style animation; one is a little bit modern style. Compare with Japanese and American style, Chinese animation is not known by people. But both styles are special and unique.
The most obvious feature in Chinese style animation is non-realistic and symbolic. Each character has special symbol, such as Facial Makeup of Beijing Opera, geometric shape. The animation is always Exaggerated, or dramatic. There may a lot of colours, but always keep low contrast. The colour scheme is dim, the scene is blurred. The sounds are interesting, in some scenes, the character will move with the rhythm of the music, like dancing, but actually it is part of the animation. One thing is notice is symmetrical elements.
In the animation
I think it reflects the patterns and totem on Chinese pottery. Symmetrical pattern is kind of represents an ancient Chinese thought: harmony and everything should abide by the rules. One good example is the yin-yang pattern.

interview:Production methods:3d rendering method as 2d , Oddly creative tea
The original site:http://www.hxsd.com/news/CG-figures/20101216/32600.html
"Oddly" inspiration is very simple, is to build Chinese-style grotesque, or as close to this feeling. In production, we refer to the bible legends and Tim Burton, one is traditional one is weird, very appropriate.
In addition, we also went to a lot of Taoist field to take photos and collect data.
3D can make people feel more immersive, and 2D feels very intimate.
The secret from 3d to 2d-hand painting texture map
the shade map of "Oddly" is entirely hand-painted watercolor. The paper grainy is very clear. This would more fully restore the two-dimensional effect.
Add outline for the model
